Doug Goodwin (April 21, 1929 - July 31, 2023) was a musician for DFE Films. He is perhaps most well known for composing and singing the theme songs to The Pink Panther Show and The New Pink Panther Show. He also composed the Think Pink Panther show theme, however he did not sing it. He also composed music for Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales (Bugs Bunny's Christmas Carol, Freeze Frame, and Fright Before Christmas; Freeze Frame being directed by Chuck Jones) as well as Bugs Bunny's Easter Special, and music for The Ant and the Aardvark.
His first music score on Pink Panther was Extinct Pink. His music style in Extinct Pink is described as a musical composition that lasts during the entire short, including the distribution credits at the end. The opening credits still has The Pink Panther Theme by Henry Mancini, but the short contains about one minute of cues similar to William Lava's and then the musical composition plays for the duration of the short. This musical composition is still jazz, but it is not a variation of the main theme. The final few seconds and the distribution credits both contain additional melodies. Extinct Pink is rare because it has unusual music during the distribution credits.
Doug Goodwin passed away on July 31, 2023.
