Pink Panic is the 26th Pink Panther episode produced in the Series.
Plot[]
On a dark and stormy night, the Pink Panther, trying to find shelter, comes across the welcome sign for a ghost town called Dead Dog, and spots a hotel. Upon entry, the Panther finds the place deserted. He tries to sign in his name into the guest book, but the ink ends up squirting out of the pen and into his face. The Panther wipes his face on a sheet covering a chair, unaware that the "sheet" is actually an unfriendly ghost After finding a room and closing the window as well as inspecting the bathroom, the Panther trips over the sheet-covered chair. Believing the creature to be an ordinary chair, he throws it down a flight of stairs for good measure.
The ghost leaves his chair and goes after the Panther, but ends up getting used as a towel for the Panther to dry off with after taking a shower. Later, the Panther heads off to bed, unaware of a skeleton right next to him. After they blow the candles simultaneously, the shattering of bones scares the Pink Panther and chaos ensues. Now realizing the place is haunted, the Panther runs for another area as the skeleton gives chase, slamming a door shut, which causes the latter to shatter into pieces, prompting the ghost from earlier to come around with a broom and dustpan to sweep him up.
While wandering the halls for safer hiding places, the Pink Panther is accosted by the skeleton and comes face to face with the ghost again. He uses the ghost as a parachute to jump off the upper floor to the ground unaware that the skeleton has followed. As he lands, both the Panther and the Skeleton battle again, with the former gaining the upper hand by stunning the two ghouls with a plank.
Donning a six-gun belt, the ghost pursues the Panther into a wine cellar, where the latter manages to pickle the creature in a wine keg. The drunken ghost is then inflated like a balloon by the Pink Panther and burst, becoming a group of little specters that join the skeleton in pursuing the Pink Panther. A big fight ensues in a grandfather clock; the resulting noise prompts the sheriff to arrest them all. But as they all head for the jailhouse, the sun rises, which causes the skeleton, ghost, sheriff, and town to vanish.
Notes[]
- In the Pink Panther comics from Western Publishing, there are 3 comic stories named Pink Panic. The first Pink Panic, in Pink Panther #2, is similar to this short as it involves an abandoned hotel and someone seeing ghosts. But the similarities end there.
- The second Pink Panic in Pink Panther #15 is a take on Jonathan Swift's Gulliver so is completely unrelated.
- The third Pink Panic in Pink Panther #45 has the Pink Panther inadvertently robbing a bank for a crook disguised as an old lady so is completely unrelated to this short.
