Think Before You Pink is the 58th Episode in The Series.
Synopsis[]
The Pink Panther is having trouble crossing an avenue. He then tries various methods to accomplish this task.
Plot[]
The Pink Panther is standing in the sidewalk waiting the traffic light to change. When the traffic light reads "Walk", he start crossing, but he walks too slow and the traffic starts to flow again, forcing him to return to the sidewalk. He tries again, but this time the traffic light reads "Halt", making him to stop walking in the middle of the avenue causing him to be hit by a car.
In the third attempt, there is no traffic on the avenue, but whenever he steps outside the sidewalk the traffic starts flowing. He goes to a store called "Senior Miss Wearing Apparel" and disguise himself as an old lady. He starts crossing again, but a motorcycle stops on his skirt reveling his identity, forcing him to return to the sidewalk.
He goes to a costume store and gets a "Super Eagle flying suit". From the top of a building, he tries to soar to the other side, but hits a billboard.
In another attempt to cross the avenue he goes to the National Pedestrian Club where he is taught how to cross a street by the Little Man.
The plan A is to make a pole vault across the street. He fails by falling inside an open manhole.
The plan B is to use a firework rocket to cross the street, but it explodes instead .
The next plan is to ride a horse wearing an armor, a sword and a shield. He and the horse start to cross, but the traffic lights reads "Retreat", making the horse to return to the sidewalk and causing the Pink Panther to be hit by a car (again!).
The plan C (which should be called "plan D") is to use the power lines as a tightrope. He starts crossing using an umbrella to get equilibrium, but throws it away when he gains confidence. He then starts playing around in the power line, steps on a stripped wire and get electrocuted.
The plan D (which should be called "plan E") is to use a cannon to get to the other side. It is said to never fail, but what happens is the opposite, exploding with the Pink Panther inside it.
He tries another strategy. From a window at top of an building called Hightower Hotel he starts to build a bridge with wood planks. After he puts the third to last plank, the fixed part on the windowsill tries to come loose. He runs back, fixes it on time and jumps on it. After placing the second to last plank, the bridge starts to lean. and he turns to run back. As he runs back, the fixed part on the windowsill comes loose and makes him fall.
The last plan is to disguise himself as a mother cat with her kittens. It actually works and he mocks the traffic about his success. But his joy doesn't last too much as a grand piano falls on his head.

Trivia[]
At the time of this short, "Walk/Don't Walk" traffic signals were being rolled out in the U.S. The Panther's dilemma sums up early public opinion of the mechanism.
The numerous methods Pinky uses to try crossing the street might have been borrowed from WB cast member Wile E. Coyote. Friz Freleng worked on both Pink Panther and WB cartoon shorts.
Airline travel was becoming more accessible to the general population, at the expense of the railroad industry. This is shown when a flying Pinky crashes into a billboard that advertises train trips. And Pinky also passes a travel agency window a few times, which advertised exotic foreign destinations.
Pinky breaks the fourth wall with a knowing sidelong glance, but no words.
